The special requirements for plane arrangement and height of structural hangar directly determines what structure  of hangar aviation would be. With the hangar aviation of large span, the structural weight (mainly refers to roofing system) takes a large proportion of all loads. The obvious cost effectiveness will be achieved if the structural weight is reduced. The steel structure is commonly used as roofing load-bearing system in the large span structure because of its high strength, light weight, small section of components as well as weldability and easy manufacturing process. With stress carrying capacity and light weight, the spatial structure can be able to solve some problem that can not be solved by plane structure. Shell structure, space truss structure, suspension structure and other structure are widely used in the large span building roofing system, such as the roofing system of airport hangar in London, England which uses two-way skew truss plane space truss structure with 170.15×83.62 in plan size which is made of prefabricated tubular truss. Steel is high strength steel with the yield strength of 450 MPa.  8 columns support the whole roofing system. Except for normal load, it still supports pressure exerted from equipment of 700 tons.  Hangar gate is structurally special because of its large size, heavy weight as well as a need for easy open. In order to tow airplane easily out of hangar, hangar gate is commonly designed to height that airplane can be in and out. 

Gate leaf is made of steel structure of light steel, with thickness of 500-700 millimeters. Based on the different shape of airplane, some hangar gate are designed into“品”shape, featuring high center and low sides. The height of central gate is controlled according to the height of rear of airplane going to the hangar while the height of gate on both sides is controlled for the height of airframe. With the ample space , many airplanes are repaired and maintained in the hangar. Stricter regulation is set for various maintenance and repairing facilities and working platform accompanied by oil, gas, electricity and explosive and combustible substances and fireproof and explosion proof . Currently, foam extinguishing system is adopted .
